BEAI - Spectrum Summer Edition

Dear Colleagues,

As you know the BEAI publishes the Biomedical Engineering Association of Ireland Spectrum, three times per year.  This journal has a large leadership, much wider than the membership.  Copies are sent to many organisations and departments which are stakeholders in the medical device and equipment sector in Ireland.

In recent years, many organisations have opted for soft-copy publications.  The BEAI does not intend to follow this trend since we are confident, based on feedback received that the paper copy meets the needs of our membership and the Association most effectively.

The Spectrum has an ISBN number and as such is an international publication.  The new web-site of the BEAI, www.beai.ie has a functionality which allows content to be read in Google searches.  This means that publications in the Spectrum can be a verifiable publication and achievement by the author.

There will be an award at the Annual Scientific Meeting for the best paper published from the previous 3 editions.

The BEAI welcomes articles from all its members, seasoned Clinical engineers writing their experience in dealing with particular challenges, students unravelling scientific concepts, and companies publishing on science or concepts supporting new technology.

If you have an article for submission to the Spectrum, please send it as soon as possible to Brian Kearney (secretary@beai.ie).  The dead-line for articles for the next issue is 30th May.  Articles will be reviewed on a first come, first served basis.  If the demand for space requires, some articles may be deffered to the September edition. Guidelines for formatting of such articles are attached for your information (pdf).

If you are aware of a topic which you think is worthy of follow-up as an article for The Spectrum, and you are not in a position to write it yourself, please let Brian know.

Where possible - send photos to support articles and notices!

Also please let Oleg (treasurer@beai.ie) know of any events which might be of interest to the BEAI membership.  These can be published on the BEAI website and in The Spectrum.

If you are interested in being part of the editorial team of The Spectrum, you would be more than welcome, just contact any member of the Executive and let them know.

We look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards,

Meabh Smith
Chairperson, BEAI
