Enable Ireland provides free services to children and adults with disabilities and their families from 40 locations in 14 counties. Covering childhood to adulthood, our expert teams work with the individual and their family on a plan for each life stage. Our services for children and their families cover all aspects of a child's physical, educational, and social development from early infancy through adolescence. For adults we offer a range of services covering personal development, independent living, supported employment, social and leisure activities. Enable Ireland’s mission is to work in partnership with those who use our services to achieve maximum independence, choice and inclusion in their communities.
SeatTech is Enable Ireland’s ‘Special Seating Service’, a leading Irish provider of special seating services to people with complex postural requirements. SeatTech provides an assessment and advisory service for wheelchair users with very complex seating needs, i.e. people for whom there is typically nothing suitable available on the market. Our service provides clinical and technical expertise to offer impartial advice to service users, their families and allied healthcare professionals on the selection and prescription of appropriate wheelchairs and on appropriate seating solutions.
Where appropriate seating solutions cannot be sourced 'off-the-shelf', SeatTech engages in the custom manufacture of bespoke solutions to match the identified needs of the service user. The goal in designing the equipment is to optimise a wheelchair user’s functional abilities and hence maximise their independence. SeatTech employs a team of one engineer and six technicians engaged in the custom-manufacture of bespoke seating solutions for service users. We provide this service both at our Sandymount clinic and at ‘outreach’ or satellite clinics around the country.
