BEAI/Irish representation at MBEC2014

Meabh Smith, Chairperson BEAI presents paper on Certification of Clinical Engineers at MBEC2014.
The 6th European Conference of the International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering (MBEC 2014) will be held in Dubrovnik, Croatia, from 7th to 11th September 2014. This conference continues the series of well-known European IFMBE Conferences held in Budapest in 2011, Antwerp in 2008, Prague in 2005, and two times in Vienna in 2002 and 1999.

The general theme of MBEC 2014 is "Towards new horizons in biomedical engineering". The conference program consists of plenary/keynote lectures, symposia, workshops, invited sessions, oral and poster sessions, and exhibitions. MBEC 2014 will be a great opportunity for an exchange of ideas and presentation of the latest developments in all areas within the field of biomedical engineering. All accepted papers have been peer reviewed and will appear in the Conference Proceedings that will be published in IFMBE Proceedings Series.

The BEAI is the Irish representative body of the IFMBE.  Meabh will present her paper at a special session overviewing professional certification in Canada, Italy, Sweden, the Czech Republic, and Ireland.  The session also includes more general presentations on education and certification for Clinical Engineers in the US and Asia.
