A vacancy has arisen within the Clinical Engineering Department for the above position.
 
The Role:
 
Diagnosing and resolving mechanical, electrical, electronic and software/I.T. issues arising with medical equipment including in operational clinical areas of the hospital. 
Providing assistance and advice to clinical staff with respect to technical issues encountered while using medical equipment.
Providing corrective and preventative maintenance services for medical equipment in respect of its functional, electronic, electrical and mechanical aspects to a standard of safety, accuracy and reliability consistent with its function and with professional standards.
Documenting all corrective and preventative maintenance using both physical and computer-based systems.
Ordering parts, maintaining a parts inventory and related administration.
Packing, unpacking and arranging of delivery of equipment to off-site service providers & receiving, unpacking, assembly and testing of new equipment.
Supervising service contractors while on site and coordinating preventative maintenance and breakdown calls.
Emergency breakdown planning.
Improving systems and procedures to maximize efficiency.
Standing in for the Department Manager during annual leave, sick leave etc.
Any related or additional duties as determined by the Department Manager. 
 
 
The Candidate: 
 
Should hold an NFQ minimum Level 7 or higher in one of the following Engineering disciplines or equivalent:
Clinical/ Biomedical Engineering
Electronics or Electrical Engineering
Medical Physics
Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering
Membership of one or more of IPEM, BEAI and/or Engineers Ireland desirable.
Minimum 3 years of previous experience in a similar role in a hospital environment – highly desirable.
Knowledge and experience of a wide range of medical equipment – highly desirable.
Good I.T. skills with an ability to navigate operating systems, troubleshoot network & software issues.
Highly technically competent with the ability to troubleshoot and repair a wide range of electrical, electronic, I.T. and mechanical issues arising with medical equipment.
Skilled working with hands and using tools.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to positively interact with others.
Projects a calm, reasoned and logical manner at all times and maintains this manner even under pressure.
Organizes, prioritizes and/or completes workload within designated time.
Understands and follows oral and written instructions/directions with minimal supervision.
Demonstrates an ability to analyze systems and processes and to improve on them where possible.
Willingness to undertake further education part time or in evenings as required by the role.
Willingness to travel nationally or internationally to undertake technical training where required.
Flexibility with working hours (Some non-standard hours required occasionally).
