Aim and objectives:
 
Proactively lead the workshop team to deliver a quality-focused, efficient and productive service. To coordinate and direct the workshop team with the aim of achieving ongoing improvements in productivity and output.  
 
Reporting to:
Product Support Manager, RoI
 
Location:
Based in the offices in Kilmacanogue, Co. Wicklow.  
 
Main areas of responsibility:   
 
  • Prepare, supervise and control workshop activities, including the scheduling of work in the workshop.
  • Oversee the management of spare parts and parts requisitioning for the workshop. 
  • Liaise with customers and diagnose customer concerns with equipment prior to being booked in for service and/or repair.
  • Assist the workshop team in the diagnosis and troubleshooting of problems. 
 
Supervise day to day operations and allocation of duties to:
Coordinate the allocation of work to the workshop team with the aim of ongoing improvement in overall efficiency and effectiveness. 
Complete jobs correctly in a timely manner in line with agreed Workshop KPIs. 
Ensure relevant paperwork is completed accurately. 
Ongoing review of workshop output with an aim to continuously improve quality, output and methods of working.
 
Responsible for all aspects of product support and product commissioning in the workshop including, but not restricted to:
  • Carrying out workshop repairs on equipment returned from the field or loan/demo equipment.
  • Liaising with warehouse, sales and product support staff. 
  • Commissioning products.
  • Validating of orders and commission equipment with all necessary accessories and have commissioned equipment “ready for use”, unless specifically stated otherwise.
  • Through active positive team-working, strive to meet the operational needs and requirements of the business in the interests of providing the best service to customers.
  • In the course of normal duties, notifying the Warehouse and Inventory Department of spare part stock levels deemed to be running low. 
 
 
 
Quality lead for the Product Support Department including Workshop ISO lead for compliance.
  • Representing the Product Support Department on Quality matters.
  • Engage the Product Support team on quality and regulatory matters.
  • Develop procedures and working instructions as required.

 

Technical Support

  • Point of contact for Customer Technical Support
  • Liaise with manufacturer Technical Support
 
Provide operational support to Field Service Engineers in conjunction with Product Support Manager, RoI.
 
Reporting
 
  • Produce timely and detailed workshop performance reports. 
  • Identify trends and key issues with services/repairs.
  • Ongoing review, revision and reporting of workshop KPIs to continuously improve overall workshop performance.   
 
Person Specification
 
  • A relevant third level engineering qualification or relevant experience.
  • A high level of competence with advanced equipment and technology.
  • Strong, customer focused interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to deal effectively with pressure.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in supervising others including planning and evaluating individual performance.
  • The ability to design and implement overall workshop performance. 
  • Good computer skills.
  • Previous medical engineering experience in a similar environment would be highly desirable, but not essential, as full training will be provided.
  • A full clean driver’s licence is desirable.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organised and structured approach to tasks.
