Overview

For those training or employed in the early stages of their career in biomedical and/or clinical engineering, healthcare technology or medical physicists, as an associate you can shape the future as we move forward with the BEAI 2025 strategy. Access our Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Scheme, BEAI job listings will keep you alerted to new opportunities, continue your professional development by participating in Special Interest Groups, access our member journal ‘SPECTRUM’, as well as discounts on our educational events and conferences to keep up to date with the latest developments in your field.

To be eligible for Associate Membership, you must be:

A trainee/apprentice working in biomedical/clinical engineering and progressing towards certification or MSc/PhD postgraduate student or academic researcher employed in biomedical/clinical engineering or professional working in biomedical/clinical engineering but not pursuing full membership or certification.

To be an Associate Member, you must comply with the BEAI Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics and undertake required CPD.

A BEAI Associate Member can:

  • Join the BEAI CPD Scheme
  • Apply for our prizes and bursaries
  • Receive discounts on educational opportunities and conference attendance
  • Enjoy fortnightly e-jobs bulletin and weekly news updates
  • Vote at BEAI general meetings

As a BEAI Associate Member you can also:

  • Apply to join the dedicated committees and panels that plan, organise and carry out work on behalf of BEAI, acquiring new skills and networks in the process
  • Apply to join one of BEAI’s Special Interest Groups (SIGs)
  • Participate in a range of ‘micro’ volunteering opportunities that can be carried out from your desk

Annual Fees

Associate Membership: €50
Membership covers one calendar year

Apply for Affiliate Membership

Before you start, please make sure you have the following information/documents to hand as you will be asked to provide/upload them as part of your application:

  • Photo of student card (if you are a current MSc/PhD postgraduate student)
  • Name and email of course leader/head of faculty

Once your application is submitted, the following will happen:

  • You will get an automated email to confirm that your application has been received.
  • Your application will then be forwarded to the BEAI membership team for consideration at their next meeting.
  • If your application is deemed suitable, you will be notified by email and supplied a password link to the Member’s Area on the BEAI website.
  • When you login for the first time, you will be prompted to enter your payment details for the first year’s membership fee.
  • Once you pay, you will have full access to the Member’s Area, including the CPD section and other resources.
