RIP Notice of Pat Horan

We are very sad to inform you of the death of our colleague Mr Pat Horan who passed away on Saturday 7th of October in the loving care of his family and the staff of St. Vincent’s University Hospital.

National Survey to determine the Knowledge of IEC 80001-1

Dear Colleagues

Please see below details of some research being carried out by a clinical engineering colleague Tony Fitzgerald on the knowledge of IEC 80001. Tony is the Principle Clinical Engineer with extensive experience in both the hospital and commercial healthcare sector. He has recently been seconded from OLCHC to play a lead role in healthcare technology planning and equipping for the New Children’s Hospital. He is a graduate of Carlow RTC and currently undertaking an MSC in Health Informatics in Trinity College.

Sincere sympathies are extended to the family of Ms. Helen McGivney, mother of our colleague and BEAI Executive Committee member John McGivney.

RIP notice for Tom Smyth

Sincere sympathies are extended to the family, friends and colleagues of Mr. Tom Smyth, co-founder and former chairperson of the Biomedical/Clinical Engineering Association of Ireland (BEAI) and former Clinical Engineer in St. Vincent’s University Hospital. Tom played a key role in the development of the biomedical/clinical engineering profession and will be sadly missed.
